Both aligners and traditional braces can straighten teeth effectively — the right choice depends on your case, lifestyle and budget. Dr. Shweta Kalra will recommend the best option for you at your consultation. Read our full comparison in the Patient Education Hub, or see our Orthodontics & Braces page for traditional options.
Treatment length depends on how much movement your teeth need — mild cases can be shorter, more complex cases take longer. Dr. Shweta will give you an estimated timeline at your consultation.
You may feel mild pressure for a day or two after switching to a new aligner set — this is normal and a sign the aligners are working. It's generally more comfortable than traditional braces.
Aligners should be removed before eating or drinking anything other than water, then cleaned and reinserted — this is one of the biggest advantages over fixed braces.
For many cases of crowding, spacing and mild-to-moderate bite issues, aligners can be just as effective as braces. More complex bite problems may still need traditional braces — Dr. Shweta will advise honestly which is right for you.
Aligners work well for teens (once enough adult teeth have come in) through adults. Bring your child in for an evaluation and we'll advise on timing.
